What We Do

"Want to thank Criss Allen for her time and effort to research and post vital information. The link that matches you to donors to help pay your water bill actually works. I put the request in for my nephew on Thurs and on Monday $200 was applied to the bill. What a blessing."

Educate and Empower

EMF provides families in the Metro Detroit area with Educational, Vocational and Cultural programs through Arts & Sciences.

Bringing dreams within reach

Underserved people and families do not have access to required financial help and resources needed to live the life of their dreams. We help them with everything they’ll need to become productive community members.

The Professional Development Program prepares participants in the areas needed to function and grow in the workplace and community. PDP will develop or enhance skills in the following areas: crafting and updating a resume, interview preparation, building a professional presence, fostering an effective network, communications skills across hierarchies and identifying transferable skills.

For a number of years EMF has provided resource services to those seeking employment and looking to empower themselves to be lucrative members of the community. The EMF Facebook Employment page ‘Employ Detroit’ has over 800 followers and will continue to grow.  We have posted employment opportunities for those with GED’s, college graduates, entry level and experienced workers. We will continue to assist with the career search, no matter what level but we are ready to take this service to the next level.

The Re-Entry Technology Program prepares participants in the digital areas needed to function and grow in the workplace and community. RETP will bridge the digital divide among returning citizens as they reenter society by introducing how to utilize various technologies including but not limited to: software programs, hardware, applications and websites and other new technologies that are useful to integrate into everyday life, the workforce, and learning space. To accomplish this we will orient participants in resources and tasks centered around technology like using a debit card, utilizing online resources, and state systems like the Secretary of State and MDHHS. We believe that equipping all citizens with technology equity will empower the community allowing ex-offenders to independently seek viable opportunities and decrease chances that they will return to the prison system.

The Family Empowerment Program will educate parents and family members of children birth to twelve years old in providing education and information to change the child’s life and provide pathways to an inclusive, productive, independent lifestyle.

EMF is excited about addressing the lack of support for families and children with Developmental Disabilities in our community.  We strongly believe that this program will provide our community and the people we serve with additional tools to better manage their mental, physical and emotional health.
